Business People Need Business Social Networking
By J Gay

Everyone in business today is time short. There is always more that we want to do, have planned to do, than what we can actually get to do. This is no excuse though for not doing any business social networking.

Some business people have decided that they won't do any social networking for business because they see that as a "perk" of being in business for themselves and decide they don't have the time 'just yet' to go gallivanting around enjoying themselves. However, what they fail to realise is that they will really get to "gallivant around" a lot faster and with more financial security if they take the time to do some social networking with like minded business people.

Business social activities are enjoyable because you will be among a wide variety of people who have the same interests as yourself. This always makes one feel comfortable immediately because you all automatically have a 'common interest' so conversation is not hard to start or join in. A quick hint here: just be sure to have a memorable 'tag line' to help introduce your business when you are asked. If it is memorable, humorous and / or gets an obvious question asked, your business will always be remembered. Just say your tag line naturally rather than making a 'big deal' out of it and if you aren't comfortable doing this, then don't do it. Many people don't have one or forget to say it at the appropriate time but if you do have the personality to do it then now is the time!

Many of these social networking events are held to raise money for local charities or some special community event. Business people in any town around the world are large contributors or supporters of charitable events. Some of these networking groups are international organisations while others may be your local chamber of commerce or your city business group. Where ever there are a number of businesses you will find some type of local business group associated with the area.

If you were more interested in spreading your interests further, the international organisations like Rotary, Lions or Apex are excellent and fun social networks to join and usually consist of more variety of occupations than just a local business group. Some, like Rotary International, you will need to be invited to join but I know they are always seeking 'more hands' so if you wanted to join Rotary for a fun and useful time, then contact them either through phoning or making contact through email. You will be put in touch with your nearest local club and they will look after you from there.

I have never been in Lions or Apex, but I have spent the last four years in Rotary and they do an excellent job of sponsoring goodwill between other clubs in their districts and in their States and in their countries. They are truly a group who volunteer their services to assist those in need. And you will be volunteering with people who are active members in their local communities. Besides, they are a lot of fun and excellent organisations for business social networking.

Learning how to improve business social networks leads to happier and more prosperous business and social results. Chivalry, courtesy and conversation are not dead, they just have to be actively practised - http://www.learninghowsite.com.
