Importance of Training in Service Delivery Function

Customer service experiences; in today's date have the power to decide the fate of the business. Whether the business operation will be able to justify its existence and capture relevant market share depends a lot on how the customers perceive its service experiences to be.

An important aspect of perfecting the art of providing exceptional customer service experiences is the level of training that is imparted to the employees. Effective training and exceptional customer service experiences actually go hand in hand; both being imperative and complimentary to each other. Effective training modules serve as an important tool enabling the service delivery team in delivering exceptional customer service experiences day in day out which alternatively ensures customers loyalties towards the business.

All training modules should be designed in such a way that during implementation they focus on the overall development and improvement aspects of the service delivery function viz a viz the employee's aptitude. A comprehensive 360 degree training module would concentrate not only on one particular aspect of the service delivery mechanism but would ensure that the employee's skills are fine tuned and upgraded for the entire process; no matter how proficient or well versed he/ she might be with the other aspects of the process. An extensive and comprehensive training module is actually the key to success for the service delivery function as well as the employee who has to perform and deliver.

Customer's interaction is one of the most important facets of the service delivery function. A person involved in technical side of the business; should be trained on customer interaction aspects as well in the absence of which he will not be able to actually analyze the problems and suggest subsequent remedies to the customers. Focus on non technical aspects should also be given equal importance to ensure that overall development and performance enhancement of the employee in question as well as the entire service delivery function.

Another advantage of having an effective training module is that the employees also feel wanted and cared for in an organization and when they see that they have chances of growth within the organization as a result of their skill set enhancement, they tend to stick around for a longer time in the set up. It plays a very vital role in reducing the employee turnover who are then able to ensure that with their excellent customer service delivery they are able to retain the loyalties of their customers as well. Last but not the least; training programs or modules should be a continuous process rather than being a one of exercise, because only then the actual benefits of training modules can be measured and gauged.
