At DJ Connection (the company I founded) we grew from 10 weddings per year to 4,000 weddings per year by finding people who were passionate about having a good time and helping people celebrate their marriage. If we simply went out there and hired people because they had "DJ experience" it never would have worked. If we simply paid people hourly it never would have worked. What worked was finding people who shared the company's vision and who we allowed to also share in the companies profits as we worked together to achieve shared goals.
If you are trying to grow your organization quickly you must hire only Apostles of your business. The Apostles followed Jesus around for years spreading his viral message because they believed in him and were passionate about the Salvation Message. They were not lured with benefits and perks.
People that will come and work for you because of the perks and benefits will start to feel trapped inside a comfortable prison as they realize that they are exchanging the best hours and years of their life for a salary and benefits. They will be the last to arrive and first to leave. However, employees that come to work for your business because they share the vision and the synergy of your goals will take your business to the next level. They will wow customers who will wow more customers as they tell the tale of your great business. New potential employees will flock to you because of your great reputation. Your advertising costs will decrease. Your profits will soar. More employees will be seeking you and your company out and you will not be forced to lure people who do not share your vision into working with you for excessive compensation and benefits. Find people who share your passion and your businesses goals. Pay them well. Let them share in your company's profits and successes as your reach your shared goals together. Find employees with whom you have synergy and watch your business prosper.
