Pitching Your Business Opportunity:
Pitching is an impersonal form of advertising that involves lots of catch phrases and long, copy and pasted paragraph descriptions that other members of your company use as well. When pitching your business, you are perceived as a salesperson rather than a real person. Salesmen engage in behavior such as sending messages that begin: "Here's the information you requested", when they know good an well the recipient never requested the materials. Salesmen often disregard their prospects when they inform them that they aren't interested in their product or services. They continue to pressure them to review the opportunity, question their motives and harass them with more details of their company.
There is little to no originality in business pitches and they have a complete disregard for value. As a result, they are viewed as spam and prospects have no interest. Leave the generic catch phrases behind and add some personality to your marketing tactics. Respect your prospect's decision to decline your offer.
Promoting Your Business Opportunity
Self branding should be evident when you are promoting your business opportunity. You should be personable and friendly. You remain professional and advertise your business in locations that encourage promotion. Yes, you can promote your business opportunity to your friends and family members. However, you do so without hounding or harassing them to take a look at your opportunity. You make your business known, but you allow them to inquire about what you do, how it works and where they can find more information.
Think about it this way. Pitching = annoying telemarketer who refuses to take "no" for an answer, while Promoting = well established business professional you know where to find when you need them.
