Tour guiding can be a means of making some extra income with minimum investment. The only investment you may need to start with is knowledge of what you will be showing people which knowledge you most likely already have. Of course for people to pay you for your tour guiding services they need to know what you have to offer and this is where marketing comes in. Again you don't have to go and get a degree in marketing to market your services. Here are three ways that you can get known by your future customers.

Have a website. This is where people can check out the services you offer and find your contact. It does not have to be very complicated but it has to have enough information and be inviting enough for people to check it out. It creates awareness of your services to customers across borders. Closely linked to this is telling others near you about the services you offer. This could include friends and relatives. Having business cards won't leave a dent in your pocket but may go a long way in creating awareness of your services.

Target a niche market. Different people have different needs and trying to fulfill everyone's need at the same time may be bad for your business. Young people have different needs from the elderly or from honeymooners on vacation. Having all these groups in your tour may result in a bad experience for both you and your customers. You need to decide who your target customers will be, learn about what interests them and then offer these services to them.

Give good service. Yes good customer service is one of the best ways to market your services. If people enjoy your services they will tell their friends who will tell their friends. Never take a customer for granted, deliver on what you have promised, be consistent in service delivery and you may have more customers than you can handle.
